RESUMO

Typhrasa is a rare genus that comprises two species and that has previously been reported only from Europe and North America. The present study expands the geographical scope of the genus by describing two new species - T. polycystis and T. rugocephala - from subtropical China. The new species are supported by morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses (ITS, LSU and tef-1α). The new species have very similar morphological characteristics and are 98% similar in their ITS region. However, T. rugocephala has two types of long gills at the same time, rarely fusiform pleurocystidia with rostrum. Detailed descriptions, colour photos, illustrations and a key to related species are presented in this paper.

RESUMO

Bacillus megaterium strain JX285, isolated from rhizosphere red soil sample, can solubilize inorganic phosphorus, which increases the amount of available phosphorus and promotes plant growth. To investigate the mechanisms underlying phosphate solubilization, we sequenced the entire genome of B. megaterium strain JX285 (CGMCC 1.1621), which comprises a circular chromosome of 5,066,463 bp and seven plasmids of 167,030, 128,297, 60,905, 134,795, 9,598, 37,455, and 6332 bp, respectively. The whole genome sequence includes 5948 protein-coding genes, 124 tRNAs, and 29 rRNAs, and has been deposited at Genbank/EMBL/DDBJ with accession numbers CP018874-CP018881. We detected genes associated with organic acid production, which may be vital for phosphate conversion. Furthermore, phosphatase-encoding genes were also detected. The information embedded in the genome will assist in studying the mechanisms of phosphate solubilization. In conclusion, analysis of the JX285 genome will further our knowledge regarding this strain and may contribute to its biotechnological application.

RESUMO

Phosphate-solubilizing fungi (PSF) generally enhance available phosphorus (P) released from soil, which contributes to plants' P requirement, especially in P-limiting regions. In this study, two PSF, TalA-JX04 and AspN-JX16, were isolated from the rhizosphere soil of moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) widely distributed in P-deficient areas in China and identified as Talaromyces aurantiacus and Aspergillus neoniger, respectively. The two PSF were cultured in potato dextrose liquid medium with six types of initial pH values ranging from 6.5 to 1.5 to assess acid resistance. Both PSF were incubated in Pikovskaya's liquid media with different pH values containing five recalcitrant P sources, including Ca3(PO4)2, FePO4, CaHPO4, AlPO4, and C6H6Ca6O24P6, to estimate their P-solubilizing capacity. No significant differences were found in the biomass of both fungi grown in media with different initial pH, indicating that these fungi could grow well under acid stress. The P-solubilizing capacity of TalA-JX04 was highest in medium containing CaHPO4, followed by Ca3(PO4)2, FePO4, C6H6Ca6O24P6, and AlPO4 in six types of initial pH treatments, while the recalcitrant P-solubilizing capacity of AspN-JX16 varied with initial pH. Meanwhile, the P-solubilizing capacity of AspN-JX16 was much higher than TalA-JX04. The pH of fermentation broth was negatively correlated with P-solubilizing capacity (p<0.01), suggesting that the fungi promote the dissolution of P sources by secreting organic acids. Our results showed that TalA-JX04 and AspN-JX16 could survive in acidic environments and both fungi had a considerable ability to release soluble P by decomposing recalcitrant P-bearing compounds. The two fungi had potential for application as environment-friendly biofertilizers in subtropical bamboo ecosystem.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS: Ampullary impaction of an entrapped stone-basket complex is not an infrequent yet challenging event during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of "post-cut" for the management of such scenarios. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Patients with impacted biliary stone with an entrapped basket during ERCP at West China Hospital, Chengdu, China, from October 2004 to August 2014 were included in this retrospective study. Adequate biliary sphincterotomy was performed in all cases before attempted stone basket removal. Using free hand needle knife techniques, the authors extended the sphincterotomy along the long axis of the distal common bile duct to manage the biliary stone-basket impaction. In comparison with "pre-cut", the authors coined the term "post-cut" referring to this technique. The feasibility, safety, and potential complications of post-cut were analysed. RESULTS: "Post-cut" was performed in consecutive 10 cases of impacted biliary stone within an entrapped extraction basket. The size of the removed stone ranged from 6 mm to 13 mm. The length of post-cut is 2 mm to 4 mm. The impacted basket was easily retrieved in all patients without complications, including bleeding, perforation, and pancreatitis. CONCLUSION: "Post-cut" is a feasible, effective, and safe endoscopic technique when impaction of a biliary stone with an entrapped extraction basket develops.

RESUMO

A high-throughput method was developed using liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the profiling and quantification of 43 phytohormones and their major metabolites, including auxins, abscisic acid, jasmonic acid, salicylic acid, cytokinins and gibberellins in a single sample extract. Considerable matrix effects (MEs) were observed (with most ME values in the range of 29%-84%, but maximum MEs of more than 115%, even up to 206%, existed) in sample extracts for most of the compounds studied. The application of the proposed binary solid-phase extraction using polymer anion and polymer cation exchange resins, was performed to purify 25 acidic and 18 alkaline phytohormones and their major metabolites prior to the LC-MS/MS analysis, which markedly reduced the MEs to acceptable levels, with ME values in the range of ±15%. Moreover, all of the isomers of cytokinins and their metabolites were fully separated on a sub-2µm particle C18 reverse-phase column with the optimized mobile phase consisting of methanol and 5mM ammonium formate. The method showed good linearity for all 43 analytes with regression coefficients (R(2))>0.991. Limits of detection ranged from 0.19 to 7.57 fmol for auxin, gibberellins, abscisic acid and their metabolites, 29.7 fmol for jasmonic acid, 18.1 fmol for salicylic acid, and from 0.03 to 0.31 fmol for cytokinins and their metabolites. The mean recoveries for all of the analytes were from 70.7 to 118.5%, and the inter-day precisions (n=6) were less than 18.7%, with intra-day precisions (n=6) within 25.4%. Finally, 20 compounds were successfully quantified in rice sample profiles using the proposed method, which will greatly facilitate the understanding of hormone-related regulatory networks that influence rice growth and development. To our knowledge, there are limited reports that measure this level of phytohormone species in rice samples using a single analysis.

RESUMO

Binuclear manganese complex (MnL), with high catalytic activity, was encapsulated into ethyl cellulose microspheres via a microencapsulation technique. The characterization of the catalyst through ICP, UV-VIS, SEM and TEM revealed that MnL was well distributed within the ethyl cellulose matrix. The results of UV-VIS confirmed the structural integrity of MnL after the encapsulation process. The MnL loaded microspheres exhibited an excellent catalytic property in the oxidative decolorization of Reactive Blue P-3R, which was used to simulate the dyestuff wastewater. The dye solution was completely decolorized under the catalyzing action of these microspheres. What's more, these MnL loaded microspheres could be reused for at least 4 times and the decolorization degree of Reactive Blue P-3R was maintained above 70%. The results demonstrated the potential application of the microsphere-supported MnL as a novel heterogeneous CWPO catalyst for the decolorization of wastewater containing dyestuff.

RESUMO

Two cadmium complexes, Cd(bpbp)Cl(2) (complex 1) and [Cd(bpbp)(2)](ClO(4))(2) (complex 2), based on 2,6-bis(1-phenylbenzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine (bpbp), were synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal structure analyses. For complex 1: crystal system, monoclinic, space group, C2/c, a=27.427(3)Å, b=13.4495(15)Å, c=14.8381(17)Å, ß=106.635(2)°, V=5244.4(10)Å(3), Z=8. It is a neutral complex. The Cd(II) ion distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry is five-coordinated by three nitrogen atoms from ligand (bpbp) and two chlorine ions. For complex 2: crystal system, triclinic, space group, P-1, a=13.4791(15)Å, b=13.8506(16)Å, c=16.5839(19)Å, α=94.202(2)°, ß=106.948(2)°, γ=94.872(2)°, V=2935.3(6)Å(3), Z=2. It is an ionic complex. The Cd(II) ion octahedral geometry is six-coordinated by six nitrogen atoms from two ligand (bpbp). Both complexes emit blue luminescence with emission peaks at 420 and 430 nm in solid state and with emission peaks at 415 and 425 nm in DMF solution. In complex 1 absorption spectra, there is not only the free ligand absorption peak at 310 nm, but also shows strong Cd-Cl charge transfer peak at 350 nm in DMF solution.

RESUMO

Reactions of the pyridine N-oxide ligands L, L2 and L3 with the silver acetylenediide-containing system under hydrothermal conditions gave rise to four silver-acetylenediide complexes bearing interesting C2@Agn motifs: (Ag2C2)2(AgCF3CO2)8(L1)3.5 (1), (Ag2C2)2(AgCF3CO2)8(L2)2 (2), (Ag2C2)(AgCF3CO2)4(L3) (3) and [(Ag7(C2)(CF3SO3)3(L3)2(H2O)2] x 2CF3SO3 (4) (L = nicotinic acid N-oxide, L(1) = pyridine N-oxide, L2 = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane N,N'-dioxide, L3 = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane N,N'-dioxide), which exhibit new distorted polyhedral C2@Agn cage motifs. Complex 1 has a pair of acetylenediide dianions encapsulated in a Ag(14) aggregate composed of three polyhedral parts, whereas 2 contains an irregular (C2)2@Ag13 double cage. In 3, the basic building unit is a centrosymmetric (C2)2@Ag12 double cage with each component single cage taking the shape of a highly distorted triangulated dodecahedron with one missing vertex. As to complex 4, the core is a C2@Ag7 single cage in the form of a slightly distorted monocapped trigonal prism with four cleaved edges that include all three vertical sides. Furthermore, in the silver-rich environment, the pyO-type ligands are induced to exhibit unprecedented coordination modes, such as the mu(5)-O,O,O,O',O' ligation mode of L2 in 2 and the mu4-O,O,O',O' mode of L3 in 3 and 4.

RESUMO

The new flexible spacer ligand 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane-N,N'-dioxide forms three classes of isomorphous compounds with metal(iI) thiocyanates at controlled ligand-metal molar ratios, and its mu3-O,O,O' mode leads to a pair of coordination networks having the same (4, 4) topological characteristics but different mono- and di-nuclear nodes.
